About me
So you want to know more about me? Let me see… where to start.
If you’ve seen my Web site, you probably saw a brief overview of how I got into photography, so you obviously already know about that “hobby”. But if you want to dig a little deeper, read on. I thought I’d start with a list of tidbits about me, just to keep it interesting (well, ok, you be the judge). They are in no particular order.
- I’m married to the most wonderful man, Joe, and I realize this more and more every year.
- My husband proposed to me with two kittens (and a ring, of course) and I adore them. I have conversations with them on a daily basis.
- We’ve gone to Oreganos Pizza Bistro for our anniversary dinner every year. And for Valentine’s day (every year). And my birthday (every year).
- I always said I’d die if I ended up with two boys because I don’t know anything about boys, and now I have the two best little boys ever and I can’t imagine having anything but.
- In addition to wedding and portrait photography, I love photographing sunsets, boats and architecture.
- I have been running for 23 years, and I’ve run almost every day for the past 19 of them.
- I’ve run six marathons, including the Boston Marathon twice.
- I always run the last mile of a race to “Under Pressure” by Queen.
- The black fanny pack thing I keep my extra batteries and memory cards in during shoots is the same thing I store my energy gels and keys in during long distance races.
- I’m the oldest of four kids (two sisters and one brother).
- All of my siblings and my father are either photography and/or videography enthusiasts (together, we’re like the paparazzi).
- I hate when people call me Susan.
- Sometimes I squirt fat-free Reddi Whip straight from the can into my mouth (as in, a whole can).
- I’ve never eaten a Krispy Kreme donut and I never will (if I’m going to blow that many calories, I’d rather do it on something like rich cake).
- I don’t like going out to the movies, but I love watching movies at home.
- I have 48 nieces and nephews (no, that’s not a typo).
- I still love 80’s and 90’s music and I’m not ashamed to admit it.
- I love white zinfandel but I won’t order it in public.
- I hate talking on the phone.
- I get depressed when it rains.
- Piece of technology I can’t live without: my iPod Nano.
- Piece of technology I hope to never own: a Blackberry. Update 01/2010 - got one from Mr. Employer :(
- Something I never thought I’d say: I love changing my son’s diapers (he’s such a happy, smiley guy on his changing table!).
- Favorite color: red.
- Favorite splurge food: pizza. (see #3 above)
- Favorite splurge dessert: cookies from Paradise Bakery.
- Favorite television show: Scrubs.
- I’m diabetic and am cursed with a gigantic sweet tooth.
- I’m really good with names and faces and have an uncanny ability to remember inconsequential things about people, such as something they said five years ago, what they were wearing when they said it and who else was present.
- I think Hank Azaria and Johnny Depp are two of the most entertaining actors I’ve ever seen.
- I’m originally from Kansas City, Missouri and it irks me when people think I’m from Kansas.
- I hate cold weather and I think the four months of scorching heat here in Phoenix are totally worth the eight or so months of absolutely beautiful weather.
- In undergrad I was a reporter at the local NBC television station.
- I don’t get what everyone sees in the Harry Potter books.
- If I am nothing else, I am a woman of my word.
Maybe some other day I’ll actually tell my life story – that is, if you still want to hear it after that list…
